Putting FFA Knowledge to the Test

Members from across the country were able to test their knowledge on all things FFA through an Invitational Quiz Bowl Contest at this year’s national convention. The invitational, which was hosted by Tarleton State University, took place on Tuesday, Oct. 31. The event was open to all FFA members, and participants were asked a series of multiple-choice quiz questions about information from in the Official FFA Manual

Some members and chapters started to prepare months before the competition. T. Wayne Williams, a member of the Woodbury FFA Chapter in Tennessee, says his team began studying in June and created a test bank with around 960 questions.

According to David Frazier, Tarleton State University associate professor of agricultural education, the quiz bowl provided a competitive opportunity for members who might otherwise not have the chance to attend national convention.

“There’s a lot of people — a lot of schools — [that say] if you don’t have something to do at the convention, then you can’t come,” Frazier says. “This opens the door.”
