INDIANAPOLIS – With their captivating stage presence and fine harmonies, Runaway June captured the hearts of FFA members at the 90th National FFA Convention & Expo on the Ram Trucks stage.

Runaway June is an all-female country music trio comprised of Naomi Cooke, Hannah Mulholland and Jennifer Wayne. They formed a friendship while discovering their shared love for acoustic soul, soaring vocals and do-it-yourself positivity.

“Being successful is really hard, so there’s going to be times when you want to give up. My advice would be to not give up…keep going no matter what it is,” said Cooke.

All three women felt pulled to “runaway” from their homes and toward their dreams in Nashville. “Running away is kind of scary; you don’t know what’s out there and you’re alone. You just always got to try, and home will always be there so you can go back,” said Wayne.

As strong women who are not afraid to take risks in achieving their goals, empowerment is a recurring theme for Runaway June, and not just for females.

“We want to empower everybody. Young, old, female or male. We just want to send a good message. In our first single (“Lipstick”), the message is to be with somebody that treats you right. You’re the prize; be with someone who treats you well…know your worth,” said Mulholland.

Runaway June embodies the FFA mission of premier leadership, personal growth and career success. “With us out here following our dreams, we want to send a message to work really hard. We’re scared, too. No one has it figured out…and in our minds, we haven’t made it yet. It’s always keeping a high bar for yourself, pushing yourself and surrounding yourself with people who have lives you want and empower you,” said Cooke.

The trio wrapped up their convention experience by opening for Rascal Flatts at Lucas Oil Stadium on Wednesday night. To watch their performance during the expo, click on the video below.
