The parliamentary procedure event is designed to help students effectively participate in business and organizational meetings while honing their leadership, research, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Through this event, students will learn to conduct orderly and efficient meetings using parliamentary procedure, demonstrate a solid understanding of parliamentary law, present convincing debates, evaluate minutes and organizational documents, and utilize parliamentary resources to solve management and operational problems.
Participants who complete the event are eligible for membership in the American Institute of Parliamentarians. The event consists of five phases: a written exam, a team presentation of parliamentary procedure, oral questions, a team problem-solving practicum, and an individual practicum focused on minutes and records. Each phase is designed to provide comprehensive training and assessment in parliamentary procedure, ensuring students are well-prepared for future leadership roles.
