The agricultural communications event develops students’ communication skills and teamwork abilities in advocating for agriculture. Participants create a media communications plan for FFA New Horizons magazine, which includes writing a feature story, designing a magazine layout, producing a broadcast piece and developing a social media strategy. The event mimics a real-world magazine setting, with individual activities like a writing mechanics exam and team activities starting with a press conference. Students collaborate in a shared workspace to complete their projects. This event provides practical experience in writing, design, broadcast production and social media, preparing students for careers in agricultural communications.
