There are more than 2 million farms and 3.4 million producers across the United States, but what do you really know about America’s farms and ranches and the people who run them? The 2017 Census of Agriculture was released earlier in 2019, and some of the results may surprise you.

 

1. More women are taking leadership roles on farms than ever before. In fact, there was a 27 percent increase in women producers from 2012. How many female farmers were there in 2017?
