At Culver’s, we know that FFA members are our future, and we want to do our part to ensure their success. Our Scoops of Thanks Day fundraiser, which took place this year on May 3, invited Culver’s guests to donate $1 or more to a local FFA chapter in return for a scoop of Fresh Frozen Custard. The day-long fundraiser was a success, raising more than $111,000 for FFA chapters and other local agricultural organizations.

Scoops of Thanks Day is part of Culver’s Thank You Farmers Project, which supports a sustainable future food supply by donating to organizations that encourage smart farming. To date, the Thank You Farmers Project has raised almost $2 million in donations for agricultural education programs.

The dollars donated to FFA chapters are used in a variety of ways. In 2016, the Delta High School FFA chapter received a $900 donation from Culver’s of Muncie, Indiana’s Scoops of Thanks Day fundraiser. “The students were shocked,” said Nicole Terry, the chapter’s advisor. “I don’t think they realized we were going to get that much support.”

With the donations from the fundraiser, the chapter purchased new engines to help them prepare for a CDE on small engines. The chapter also regularly participates in soil judging and leadership events. When the students aren’t learning, they’re teaching others about agriculture, hosting a petting zoo and educating children at the Delaware County Farm Festival.

Culver’s and the Muncie community are proud to support an organization like FFA that benefits local students. “It’s important to support FFA because by educating young people, they are raising future farmers and leaders,” said Nick Bird, director of marketing for Culver’s of Muncie. “Muncie is a farming community, so our guests are very supportive of FFA.”
