Soybeans may not be a hot topic of discussion among many high school students, but for one FFA chapter in Illinois, they are creating quite a buzz.
Each summer, the McMinn Central FFA in Tennessee hosts a rodeo called Bucking for a Cure. The event’s purpose is to raise awareness and money for cystic fibrosis research, all working toward a cure. FFA members sell ads for the rodeo program during the school year. They also organize and run the concession stand, and several talented FFA members enter the rodeo as competitors. A great event for a great cause!
Most high school students would jump at the chance to spend half their school day at the local zoo.

“I thought I would get maybe 50 of my friends to ‘Like’ my page so it wouldn’t be embarrassing,” she laughs. “I was surprised when I had 200 Likes the first week, and 1,000 by the 10-day mark.”
