Chase Green was in middle school when he started watching YouTube video tutorials about video editing and content creation. In time, he began editing together clips of video game highlights, transforming them into compelling video montages and posting them online. Content creators and influencers recognized his talent and started hiring Green to edit content for their social channels.

“In this industry it’s all about your portfolio,” says Green. “If someone sees you doing good work, they trust that you’re going to do good work.”

At Mackay High School in Idaho, Green joined the Mackay FFA Chapter and his advisor, Trent Van Leuven, encouraged his passion for video production.

“My favorite part of being an advisor is seeing students that have these hidden talents and trying to find ways to support them [and] help them find some different ways to apply those talents,” says Van Leuven.

As part of Idaho’s Career Technical Education program, Green entered NASA HUNCH, a contest that encourages students to design and fabricate products for the space agency. Green won first place for his video that showed how fresh vegetables could be grown on the International Space Station using a hydroponic greenhouse similar to the one on the Mackay High School campus.

FFA provided opportunities to develop more than Green’s video production skills; he believes the public speaking and leadership skills he gained in FFA helped him launch his career. After his 2021 graduation, Green moved from Mackay, Idaho, to Dallas, Texas, to pursue a career in video production.

“FFA definitely played a role in me being able to move down to Dallas to start a business and talk to people and make deals,” he says.

Green freelanced for a year, working with YouTube content creators in the golf industry. He quickly gained a reputation for his professionalism and quality work, but he wanted more.

Green worked with partners to launch AKA Collective LLC, a company that provides creative direction, content creation, video production and social media management for professional golfers and golf events. His current clients include golfer Bryson DeChambeau, LA Golf and athletes on the LIV Golf Tour.

Although AKA Collective has been open for less than one year, Green is already focused on expansion. He’s hired additional videographers and editors and expanded his services to include managing other professional athletes, influencers and brands.

“I’ve always been driven by producing the best product possible,” he says. “We’re always looking to take on more clients, expand our services and just keep moving forward.”
