Maysville FFA Establishes National FFA Week Traditions

In October of 2024, the Maysville FFA Chapter in Ohio was officially chartered by the National FFA Organization. Eager to jump into all FFA has to offer, the Maysville FFA Chapter quickly began holding chapter meetings, planning trips and competing in several career development events.
As the chapter continues to establish traditions in its new program, members were excited to celebrate National FFA Week and share their enthusiasm for agriculture and leadership with the entire student body. Throughout the week, Maysville FFA invited the school to participate in a spirit week filled with themed dress-up days, an agriculture-themed assembly called the “Ag Olympics” and a service fundraiser inspired by Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum.
Spirit Week Themes
The chapter planned several fun spirit days to encourage school-wide participation.
Monday – Career Day
Students dressed up as their future career.
Tuesday – America Day
Students wore patriotic colors — red, white and blue.
Wednesday – Down on the Farm Day
Students dressed like farmers or farm animals.
Thursday – Camo Day
Apparently the teachers couldn’t see any students show up to class!
Friday – Blue and Gold Day
Students and staff wore their favorite blue and gold gear to celebrate FFA pride.
Ag Olympics Assembly
The week concluded on Friday with the chapter hosting its Ag Olympics assembly, where students competed in a variety of agriculture-themed events. Competitions included the straw bale toss, tug-of-war, an agriculture relay, balloon herding and more, bringing energy and excitement to the entire school.

During the Maysville FFA “Ag Olympics” assembly, a teacher receives a blue slushie shower after raising money for the chapter’s fundraiser benefiting Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
As part of the celebration, the chapter also hosted a service fundraiser inspired by a tradition from Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum. During the assembly, the three teachers who raised the most money were rewarded with a “slushie shower.” All funds raised during the event were donated to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, allowing the chapter to give back while celebrating FFA Week.
“We are excited to share our organization with others at Maysville Local Schools, and know that the excitement around this week will carry on for years to come,” says a Maysville FFA member.
