4 Tips for Social Media Success

One of the best ways FFA members, advisors, alumni and supporters can stay connected is by engaging on social media. National FFA has accounts on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, X, Snapchat and YouTube, making it quick and easy to keep up with all things FFA.

Whether you’re connecting with FFA or others in agriculture, follow these tips from National FFA social media manager Anna Moreno to make the most out of your posts.

1. Engage with local and state FFA accounts.

Following National FFA accounts is a great start to staying connected with the FFA community, but you can take it a step further by engaging with your local and state FFA pages.

“Follow your chapter, district or area and state social media accounts to stay up-to-date with local information,” Moreno says. “When these pages post content that you relate to, engage with those posts by commenting or sharing them.”

These accounts may also share opportunities that are specific to your area, such as scholarships, community service days or special events!

2. Build a community.

Interacting with national and local FFA social media accounts will also help you create mutuals.

On those pages, you can find people local to you or even across the country who have similar interests as you.

“Follow and message people who interact with FFA social media pages who share your interests,” Moreno says. “Once you get a good core of mutual connections online, you can start building that community. Put yourself out there to make friends online, just as you would in person.”

You never know, the network you build online with people involved in FFA can lead you to long-lasting friendships and even career opportunities.

3. Share your story.

“The reason why FFA has a presence on social media is because of you,” Moreno says. “Don’t be afraid to share your FFA story on social media. Whether you’re a current member, alumni, advisor or supporter, posting about your experience with FFA will also help you build an online community.”

Sharing your story can be as simple as posting photos, videos or reflections from FFA events or Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects. “By posting your FFA experience, your online community will get to know you better, and you can even spread the word about FFA and agriculture to those that might not know about it,” Moreno adds.

4. Represent FFA responsibly.

What you post online has an impact on your reputation, so make sure to keep that in mind when sharing content, Moreno says. Represent FFA by being respectful, encouraging, and genuine.

You can have fun with social media posts while also keeping it professional and kind.
