Agriculture has no shortage of career options, and the abundance and variety mean there’s likely something to meet the interests of most every job seeker. Just think: One day, you could be one of those people who truly love their job. We’ve devoted this issue of FFA New Horizons to helping you discover an ag career that’s right for you.

For example, in “6 Unusual Careers in Ag,” we share job profiles, education recommendations and salaries for unexpected ag jobs. Think zoologist, sports turf manager and wind turbine technologist. Yes, those are ag careers!

A flavor technologist also works in agriculture (believe it or not!) and helps develop flavors used in food and drink products. If you have an interest in STEM coursework, a keen sense of taste and smell, and a strong interest in cooking and recipe development, this ag career could be worth considering. Learn more in “Yes, This Is an Ag Career!”.

If you’re curious about what to do right after high school — go to trade school or college or head straight to the workforce — check out “Class or Career.” The chart weighs the benefits and disadvantages of various pathways to full-time work.

In addition to many more stories about ag career exploration, you’ll find articles about a community effort to save its agricultural education program and FFA chapter, lessons learned by a first-generation farmer, the upgraded AgExplorer.FFA.org website, how corporate alumni and supporter chapters support National FFA Week, and much more.

Enjoy the magazine and have a super spring and summer!
