If you’re interested in running for an FFA office this year (or in the future), you may be wondering which one aligns with your current interests and career goals. Explore how each position plays a key role in the success of your chapter, including the advisor, who provides guidance, support and wisdom.
President
- Coordinates chapter activities and serves a community representative
- Ensures meetings and events run smoothly
- Appoints committees and evaluates the progress of the chapter’s Program of Activities
Vice President
- Coordinates the chapter’s committees
- Works closely with the president to meet the chapter’s goals
- If needed, assumes all duties of the president Secretary
- Prepares the meeting agenda and maintains meeting minutes
- Tracks the chapter’s membership and attendance
- Responsible for chapter correspondence
Treasurer
- Maintains financial records
- Collects FFA membership dues
- Tracks the chapter’s income and expenses Reporter
- Connects the chapter to local publications and news media
- Can publish a chapter newsletter, manage social media accounts and serve as the chapter’s photographer
- Can also submit stories and photographs to FFA New Horizons
Sentinel
- Makes everyone in your chapter feel welcome and accepted
- Helps the president maintain order
- Ensures refreshments and supplies are kept in proper condition for chapter meetings and events
Historian
- Keeps track of the chapter’s history through a scrapbook and memorabilia
- Can also share chapter activities and stories with the media and community
Parliamentarian
- Ensures the chapter conducts meetings according to proper parliamentary procedure
- Answers all questions relating to the procedures at chapter meetings
Chaplain
- Presents the invocation at chapter meetings, events and banquets
- Can also conduct reflection services at chapter events, as well as those held throughout the state
