At BASF, we look forward to October every year! Not only does it mean cooler weather, but it also signals it’s time for the National FFA Convention & Expo. We work to support FFA members all year long, but national convention truly is a favorite time when we get to interact with members interested in learning more about agriculture and roles at companies like BASF.
“Speaking to many of the thousands of students that stop at our booth is both enjoyable and inspirational,” said Neil Bentley, BASF vice president, Market Management Agricultural Solutions NA, and a National FFA Foundation Sponsors’ Board member. “With so many great opportunities in the agriculture industry, it is so encouraging to hear how the FFA gives students the chance to explore different options and experiences at Convention and beyond, and to develop their own skills to prepare them for their own unique path.”
It’s also a time when we can look forward to getting together as an alumni chapter to celebrate something we all have in common — our love for FFA. We have over 230 members in our BASF Alumni and Supporters Chapter who help judge competitions, host Base Camps, and support FFA members at convention and throughout the year.
In 2024, the BASF Alumni and Supporters Chapter was named Corporate Chapter of the Year and accepted our award on stage.
“With BASF Alumni and Supporters in almost every state across the U.S., we hear so many incredible stories of our colleagues helping with local plant sales, mentoring judging teams, speaking about the industry in ag classrooms, participating in state conventions, and everything in between,” said Chuck Benson, Market Strategy Lead with BASF and one of the leaders of their chapter.
At national convention, we engage with teacher ambassadors for the National Association of Agricultural Educators, meet National FFA Delegates at a networking dinner, and assist with judging. Many times, we get to meet in person the state officer teams we work with on Base Camps. A true highlight for BASF is all the members, advisors and alumni we meet in our National FFA Expo booth.
