FFA Members Sample a Slice at the Expo

At the 99th National FFA Convention & Expo, Domino’s gives FFA members a closer look at the connection between agriculture and its tasty slices  At Domino’s, every ingredient starts with agriculture — whether it’s the tomatoes for the tomato sauce or milk for the cheese. “There’s no pizza without farmers,” says Domino’s chief procurement officer, Carrie Ballew.

During the national convention, FFA members had the opportunity to enjoy a slice of Domino’s pizza at its Expo booth. Marlo Boer, Domino’s headquarters/franchise liaison, says the response has been outstanding. “I’ve been doing it for the full time since the Expo’s been open yesterday and today,” she says. “Yesterday we were able to provide 11,400 samples and today we’re on pace to do the same thing.”

Walter Lay of the Lewis County FFA in Missouri says the Domino’s booth provided him an eye-opening opportunity to understand the pipeline from agricultural products to a pizza.

“What surprised me about the careers linked to Domino’s is just how many of them there are and how they relate to agriculture,” adds Brody Dell of the Morristown East Chapter in Tennessee.

FFA Members interested in the versatility of the food industry can explore career options with the Domino’s Virtual Field Trip.

Ballew advises FFA members to keep an open mind when exploring career options. “The opportunities are really just endless,” she says.

Next time you enjoy a slice of pizza, remember the farmers, ranchers and industry professionals who help make it possible!
