Tristan Pongos, an FFA member from Arizona, shares his supervised agricultural experience working on valley fever research at the University of Arizona. His project involves extracting DNA from soil samples collected across Arizona to map hotspots where this airborne fungal disease is most prevalent. Through this hands-on research experience, he has learned essential lab skills, safety protocols, and the adaptability needed for scientific work while preparing for veterinary school.
