Bailey Morell, a senior in the Willows FFA chapter, manages a 74.5-acre certified organic oat hay operation on dry land in California as her SAE project. She undertook extensive organic certification processes through Yolo County and faces significant challenges due to California's severe drought and lack of irrigation. This hands-on experience in plant science agriculture has prepared her for her future goals of studying at Colorado State University and eventually practicing agriculture law, particularly focusing on water rights issues affecting her community and the broader agricultural industry.
