Jose Villanos, a member of the La Rue County FFA chapter in Hodgenville, Kentucky, discusses his agriscience SAE projects as an American Star in Agriscience finalist. His research includes an oat rhizosphere microbiome study examining microbial shifts during drought, a hemp endophyte project aimed at improving germination rates, and an investigation into Johnson grass population structure and herbicide resistance across Kentucky. He shares how FFA shaped his passion for scientific work and his goal to earn a PhD in computational molecular biology and lead his own research lab.
