Two eighth-grade FFA students from Coriolite Middle School present their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) in hydroponics, where they grow red and green butter lettuce using indoor systems funded by a North Carolina grant. Their daily responsibilities include monitoring water and pH levels, refilling nutrient buckets, and harvesting lettuce heads, with tasks rotated among eighth-grade classes to ensure peer involvement. The project demonstrates how modern indoor agricultural techniques can produce food products for school consumption while teaching students the farm-to-table process and the importance of food safety practices.
