Lily Raquello, a 12th grader at the Sound School, manages the care of over 490 lobsters in the school's lab as her Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE), handling daily maintenance and feeding responsibilities. Despite challenges including coordinating with a partner on different schedules, she developed time management skills and discovered ways to improve lobster survival rates by adjusting feeding practices. Through this hands-on experience, she learned the importance of research and planning before undertaking an agricultural project, and gained valuable insights into animal husbandry and preparing for her future.
