The National FFA Organization relies on the support of exceptional teachers, individuals and companies to provide life-changing experiences for its members.

Each year, at the National FFA Convention & Expo, those who have made outstanding contributions to FFA are honored with Distinguished Service Citations, VIP awards or the Honorary American FFA Degree.

Nomination forms for all honorary awards must be postmarked by June 15. Online nominations must be submitted by 11:59 PM EST on June 15

Honorary American Degree Ceremony Information

The Honorary American FFA Degree, VIP and DSC ceremony will take place at the 89th National Convention & Expo in Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 8:00 a.m.

Seating arrangements will be published at a later date; please check back.

Honorary American FFA Degrees

Honorary American FFA Degree - Teacher

Teachers who have created high-quality agricultural education programs which inspire and motivate their students to strive for success are eligible for an Honorary American FFA Degree.

Nominations for the Honorary American FFA Degree must be sent to the teacher’s State FFA Association for approval. State FFA staff forwards all approved nominations to the National FFA Organization.

  • In order to qualify for an Honorary American FFA Degree:
    Eighty-five percent of the teacher’s agriculture students must have been in FFA in the last year.
  • The teacher must have been teaching agriculture for at least ten years.

Honorary American FFA Degree

Individuals who have provided exceptional service on a national level to agriculture, agricultural education, or FFA are eligible for the Honorary American FFA Degree.

Nominations for the Honorary American FFA Degree must be sent to the individual’s State FFA Association for approval. State staff forwards all approved nominations to the National FFA Organization.

Distinguished Service Citation

The Distinguished Service Citation honors organizations, agencies, businesses or other groups who have made outstanding contributions to FFA and agricultural education on a national level.

State FFA Associations can nominate businesses and organizations for this award.

VIP Award

The VIP citation honors individuals who have dedicated many years of service to FFA and agricultural education on a national level.

State FFA Associations can nominate individuals for this award.
