As we say farewell to another year, we will enter 2022 with much hope and optimism. We have all experienced many ups and downs this past year.  However, we remain blessed as we reflect on our service to young people, local communities and the industry of agriculture.  I am looking forward to some time with family and friends and encourage you to do the same.

I am excited that the delegates at the 94th National FFA Convention & Expo unanimously ratified the FFA Value Statements.  I encourage you to review the statements before you leave for the holidays. Reflect on our need as an organization to lead our youth in a manner that will honor inclusiveness.  We all desire a positive and encouraging environment, and WE CAN be the leaders for that in 2022 and decades to come.

FFA Value Statements

1. We respect and embrace every individual’s culture and experiences.

2. We welcome every individual’s contribution to advance our communities and the industry of agriculture.

3. We cultivate an environment that allows every individual to recognize and explore their differences.

4. We create leadership opportunities for every individual to enhance their personal and professional endeavors.

I spent nine years in the classroom before entering the world of leadership and administration. Over the past 35 years, I’ve made my fair share of mistakes.  However, I embraced the opportunity to learn from these mistakes and become a better teacher and leader.  Let’s learn from each other as we make the National FFA Organization a more welcoming environment.  During the next 12 months, I will reflect and share with you thoughts and wisdom from my journey that I hope will encourage you in your roles as advisors roles that include helping and guiding students to be the best version of themselves. Then we can spend all of our passions and energy fulfilling the mission of the National FFA Organization, making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

From my family to yours, Happy Holidays!
