The Tri-Rivers Section Officer Team at the Day of Service.
On Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025, California FFA members from across the Tri-Rivers Section came together for the annual Sectional Day of Service. This event focused on giving back to the community through a canned food drive. With more than 9,000 cans collected from all 11 chapters, members collaborated to sort and deliver the donations.
The main goal of the Sectional Day of Service was to help families and individuals in need, especially during the holiday season. Community is a significant part of what makes the Tri-Rivers Section so strong, and this event provided members with an opportunity to show their appreciation by supporting others in their area. Events like this help members grow as leaders because they encourage teamwork, communication and problem-solving. By organizing and taking part in the event, members were able to make a positive impact beyond the classroom.
“Service is important in FFA because it helps members develop leadership, empathy and a sense of responsibility toward their communities,” says Kiara Velazquez, Tri-Rivers Section reporter. This message captures what the day of service was all about and reminds members that service is at the heart of the FFA mission to build leaders and strengthen agriculture.

This event took a lot of planning and preparation from chapter officers and advisors across the section. Each school held its own canned food drive so every chapter could bring its donations. More than 200 members met at the Diamond Car Arena in Ceres, Calif., to unload vans full of cans, sort them into categories and prepare them for delivery to local food banks and community centers.
Overall, the Tri-Rivers Sectional Day of Service was a success. It showed how powerful FFA members can be when they come together for a common goal. By giving their time and effort to help others, members not only supported their communities, but also strengthened bonds within their section. The event reminded everyone that leadership is about service, compassion and making a difference.
