More Than a Member: Grace Schmidt

Meet Grace Schmidt
Most students get stressed while trying to balance school, sports, clubs and a social life. But for this member, that’s just a normal week.
As one of the four Wisconsin FFA in the USA reporters and member of the Stanley-Boyd FFA Chapter, Grace Schmidt is always finding new and different ways to make an impact. Whether she’s leading her chapter, competing or helping out behind the scenes, she’s someone who truly lives out the FFA motto of “living to serve.”
Leadership in the Blue Jacket
Schmidt has been involved in FFA for five years. This past year, she served as the Stanley-Boyd FFA Chapter president. Prior to this opportunity, she also served as vice president and parliamentarian.
Some of Schmidt’s favorite FFA competitions are her parliamentary procedure, prepared public speaking and agricultural communications. One of her biggest accomplishments was competing at the national level in agricultural communications.
On the topic of agricultural communications, that’s also where her Supervised Agricultural Experience fits in. Schmidt creates Stanley-Boyd’s chapter newsletters, designs their bulletin boards and helps manage social media. To sum it up, if you see something cool promoting her chapter, there’s a good chance Schmidt had something to do with it.
Life Behind a Busy Schedule
If FFA wasn’t enough, she is also involved in 17 clubs, organizations and sports. Yes, 17.
From band and choir, to athletics and other activities, Schmidt always seems to have somewhere to be. So, how does she do it all? Her answer is simple and straightforward: a good calendar and plenty of sticky notes.
Schmidt says staying organized, and knowing what needs to come first helps her balance everything. While her schedule might sound overwhelming to many, she has found a system that works for her.

A Future in Agriculture
Despite all of her different interests, agriculture is still going to play a huge part in Schmidt’s future. She hopes to continue her FFA journey by running for the 2026-27 Wisconsin FFA State Officer Team, representing Section 2.
After high school, she plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-River Falls with the plan of majoring in agricultural education. Between leading her chapter, competing and participating in countless activities, Schmidt shows that with some organization and a lot of determination, it’s possible to do it all.
