FFA Week Highlights Service, Leadership and Appreciation

National FFA Week showcased how service, leadership and appreciation can shape a school community when students work with purpose and pride. Throughout the week, FFA members at Moriarty High School in New Mexico demonstrated the core values of agricultural education by engaging their peers and celebrating the traditions that make the organization meaningful.

FFA members kicked off the week by bringing agriculture directly to the elementary school in the district. Through hands-on and interactive lessons, and the “Seeds to Salsa” Agricultural Literacy Project from New Mexico Agriculture in the Classroom, younger students learned about where their food comes from and why agriculture matters in their daily lives.

Throughout the week, the chapter shifted its focus to leadership development by hosting workshops for students at the middle schools and the high school in the district. FFA officers led sessions on teamwork, communication, goal setting and more. By planning and facilitating these workshops, members demonstrated what student leadership looks like in action.

The middle of the week added a meaningful layer to FFA Week, as members and officers came together to honor the people who have shaped their chapter’s success. Their collaboration resulted in an Alumni Appreciation Dinner — an event that blended gratitude, leadership and tradition into one powerful evening. Alongside alumni appreciation, officers and members showed their gratitude toward the agriculture teachers at Moriarty High. Events like this help ensure that FFA traditions continue, resources remain strong and future members have the same opportunities to grow.

FFA Week in Moriarty wrapped up with the highly anticipated Ag Olympics, which is a chapter tradition. Members participated in events like relay races, roping, reason giving and more, which blended fun with agricultural skills. It also acted as a reminder that agriculture can be both educational and exciting, and that school spirit grows strongest when everyone feels included.

Through service in the classroom, leadership workshops and spirited Ag Olympics, FFA Week demonstrated this chapter’s commitment to growth, community and pride. Each event highlighted a different aspect of agriculture, but together they showed what FFA truly stands for: developing leaders who serve with purpose and bring people together.
