Who teaches our future generations how to succeed? Who cares for them and mentors them? Who helps them become better people?

Our teachers are the backbone of everything we do. In the Hermiston FFA Chapter, we show our teachers some extra love through our Teacher Appreciation Breakfast.

This long-standing tradition brings our staff and members together to share gratitude and support.

Chapter Officer Cheyanne Lancaster said, “Our teachers do so much to make sure we stay caught up, especially after missing so much school for FFA. Giving our teachers these burritos helps us show our appreciation and gratitude for everything they do.”

Every year, on Wednesday of National FFA Week, chapter officers, members, and advisors arrive at school extra early to make fresh breakfast burritos for staff. We prepare healthy burritos with balanced ingredients like eggs, peppers, sausage, cheese, and more options upon request. After the preparation, we walk around the school handing them out to all staff members, from librarians to janitors. We also bring coffee and granola bars as extra treats for teachers.

This is a widespread and extremely loved tradition. Every year, staff members mark down when FFA Week is just so they can make sure they get their breakfast burrito.

These burritos are more than just tortillas filled with fresh ingredients—they represent the bond between our staff and FFA members. They symbolize mutual respect for hard work and a deep appreciation for one another. I encourage you to find something to give back to your staff members and teachers. Even if it’s not making over 100 breakfast burritos each year, it still makes a difference. A simple burrito builds bonds, begins new connections to FFA, and brightens someone’s day.

This FFA Week, I hope you make someone a burrito.
