With over 200 hours of community service, North Clay FFA member Haven Cash is a passionate servant of her community. Serving within her school, community and various organizations has shaped Cash into who she is today. “[Service] is something much deeper than just a goal or requirement,” she says. “For myself, it was understanding that our community was built on a foundation of volunteering and service.”

Spirit That Leads

Cash values making the most of every situation, allowing her to learn and gain valuable skills through service.

“Leading, speaking and working with others in a variety of settings and teams has allowed me to be flexible in whatever task I take on,” Cash explained. “Specifically, I’ve developed better ways to exemplify professionalism, problem-solving and management—all while representing organizations and causes I care deeply about.”

Cash’s experiences have also inspired her to step into several leadership positions. She serves as Illinois FFA Section 23 president, Illinois FFA District 5 director, North Clay FFA chapter president, North Clay FFA greenhouse manager, and Clay County 4-H federation reporter—all while being a highly involved student-athlete.

Cash sets an example of service, leadership and community throughout the area, saying, “At the end of the day, it’s the people I’ve met, the sense of purpose I receive, and the joy of knowing I was able to help someone that truly matters.”

Guided by Purpose

She holds the FFA motto, Living to Serve, close to her heart and says the phrase “means more to me than just words—it’s a way of life, one that we should all live each day.” By putting others before herself, few embody this principle more than Cash.

She explains that her efforts have helped her find “purpose in using my time and skills to pave the way for others and offer a helping hand when it’s needed most.” Even with all her titles and responsibilities, she remains grounded, adding, “This statement reminds me that leadership is more than just recognition or titles—it’s the work that’s poured in behind the scenes. It inspires me to stay connected to my agricultural roots while making a difference in the world.”

As she continues to grow, her impact will undoubtedly continue to shape those around her.
