This is Kalie Hall's 2013 retiring address as 2012-13 National FFA Secretary, titled Junk to Joy. Drawing on childhood memories of The Lion King and a disappointing public speaking competition, Hall describes how she became chained to performance and the constant pursuit of winning. Through a story about a young girl named Catherine at a children's home who had never won anything, she contrasts the emptiness of earned prizes with the lasting joy of grace, encouraging listeners to recognize and pass on gifts of grace in everyday life.
