This is Ridge Hughbanks's 2019 retiring address as 2018-19 National FFA Central Region Vice President, titled "Life Is Hard Work." Opening with a tribute from his former state officer teammates, Ridge distinguishes between being tired from meaningful effort and being emotionally tired of things, addressing the realities of anxiety and depression among students. Drawing on the poem "Invictus," a story about a globe gifted by his father, and the symbolism of the blue and gold jacket, he encourages FFA members to show resilience, lean on their community, and embrace hard work.
