Trey Myers – The Long Surrender

This is Trey Myers's 2026 retiring address as 2025-26 National FFA President, titled The Long Surrender. Drawing on a childhood bull-riding failure and a mentor's story about a lion pride isolating zebras, Myers explores how the prideful mindset of I got this leads to isolation and vulnerability. He shares his own struggle with mental health, self-reliance, and a dark period in college, and describes how honesty, community, and his Christian faith helped him find freedom, urging members to surrender their pride and lean on others rather than face life alone.
