Kamryn Billings, an agriculturist and dedicated FFA member, continues to demonstrate the importance of agricultural education through her passion and advocacy.

From standing on the main stage at the 98th Michigan FFA State Convention as a state runner-up to stepping into the red circle at TEDx Washtenaw Community College, Billings has used her voice to spark meaningful conversations about agriculture and its importance. She is a very dedicated individual who takes passion in her work, and is one of the most hardworking individuals you will meet.

In her Tedx WCC speech, Billings shared a relatable childhood misconception: believing chocolate milk came from brown cows. While many children have similar thoughts, she emphasized a deeper issue: many people today don’t fully understand where their food comes from. This highlights a growing disconnect between society and agriculture.

“That disconnect affects how food is understood, valued and supported,” Billings said in her speech. Her words shed light on a concerning reality: the critical need for agricultural education.

From her point of view, when people understand agriculture, communities become stronger. Food is valued more, farmers receive greater support and future generations learn the responsibility of caring for the land and animals that sustain us.

Billings also said there are many organizations like 4-H, FFA and Farm Bureau that support and educate others about agriculture. Most importantly, they build many skills like speaking, leadership and advocacy. These organizationals that support our farmers and educate others on how are food gets from farm to table are vital.

Recently, Billings was elected as the 2026–27 Michigan FFA state treasurer. In this role, she plans to continue advocating for agricultural education while inspiring others to become more connected to the industry. She hopes to use her platform to reach students, communities and consumers, encouraging them to learn more about where their food comes from and the people behind it.
