After devastating tornadoes forced the cancellation of last year’s event, the South Laurel and North Laurel FFA Chapters in Kentucky are preparing for the long-awaited return of the Blue and Gold Tractor Pull at the Laurel County Fairgrounds.

Since its launch in 2022, the Blue and Gold Tractor Pull has grown into one of Laurel County’s most anticipated summer traditions. Hosted by the South Laurel FFA Chapter and the North Laurel FFA Chapter, this high-energy event brings together agriculture enthusiasts, local businesses and families for an evening that celebrates horsepower, partnership and community pride.

Each year, the Kentucky Tractor Pullers Association (KTPA) joins forces with both chapters to put on an unforgettable show. Powerful trucks and tractors from across the region, alongside local competitors, roar down the track in front of packed grandstands. The event has quickly earned a reputation for showcasing top-tier talent and hometown spirit. From the rumble of engines to the cheers of the crowd, the Blue and Gold Tractor Pull truly lives up to its name.

The event also represents the largest annual fundraiser for both chapters. Proceeds directly support leadership development activities, career and leadership development events, chapter travel and numerous community service initiatives throughout the year. The Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association and the Shriners contribute by providing food for attendees, further highlighting the strong network of agricultural organizations that rally behind local FFA members.

In 2025, however, that momentum was unexpectedly halted. Severe tornadoes tore through Laurel County, causing widespread destruction across the area. Portions of the Laurel County Fairgrounds — the site of the Blue and Gold Tractor Pull — sustained significant damage. As the community focused on recovery and rebuilding, the fourth Annual Blue and Gold Tractor Pull was canceled. What would have been another record-setting year instead became a reminder of the resilience required in agriculture and rural communities.

Renovations at the fairgrounds are currently underway, with completion planned for summer 2026. Despite the challenges, excitement is already building for the event’s return. South Laurel FFA and North Laurel FFA, alongside KTPA, are working toward hosting the pull once again on the Friday of the Laurel County Fair in July.

From its beginning in 2022, to its pause due to devastating storms, the Blue and Gold Tractor Pull tells a story of growth, partnership and perseverance. With continued support from generous sponsors, local businesses and loyal spectators, the South Laurel and North Laurel FFA Chapters look forward to bringing the show back to Laurel County — bigger, and stronger, than ever.
