Essex FFA members getting ready for a fun-filled night!

Located at Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School in Massachusetts, the Essex FFA Chapter includes members passionate about agriculture, ranging from animal science to livestock judging, and horticulture to mechanics. The chapter celebrated National FFA Week in style this year with a fun, high-energy event: a group rollerblading outing that brought members together for laughs, teamwork and a break from the usual agricultural activities. This unique gathering highlighted the chapter’s commitment to building strong bonds among members, while honoring the spirit of FFA: leadership, personal growth and community.

National FFA Week, which is scheduled for Feb. 21-28, 2026, is a nationwide celebration where chapters showcase what FFA means to them through service projects, school spirit days and creative events. Many chapters choose fun outings to boost morale and inclusivity. For Essex FFA members, rollerblading was the perfect choice. The event took place at a local rink, where members of all skill levels laced up their skates, then hit the smooth floor.

Where Fun, Leadership and Belonging Come Together

Beginners wobbled as they found their balance, while more experienced members zipped around, offering tips and encouragement. The chapter made it a true team-building experience with friendly relay races and synchronized moves to FFA-themed music blasting over the speakers.

What made this outing extra special? Every member went for free. Thanks to generous chapter fundraising efforts from operating the popular cider stand at the Topsfield Fair and other community-supported activities, Essex FFA covered all admission fees and skate rentals.

This ensured no one was excluded due to cost, aligning with the FFA values of opportunity and equality. Advisors and officer team members coordinated everything, ensuring safety gear was provided and everyone felt welcome.

The event wasn’t just about fun; it embodied the FFA motto of “Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve.” Members chatted about upcoming competitions and shared stories from livestock shows. They also strengthened friendships that extend beyond the classroom or barn.

As the lights dimmed for the final glow skate, group members reflected on how events like this recharge their passion for FFA. In a week dedicated to celebrating agricultural education, the Essex FFA Chapter proved that leadership and growth can happen on wheels, too.

With full hearts (and maybe a few sore legs), members rolled out energized and ready for more adventures — proving once again that FFA is about so much more than farming; it’s about community, joy and rolling forward together.
