Forty-one members of the DeWitt Central FFA Chapter served throughout the community during Give Back Kick Back.

On Monday, April 28, 2025, 41 members of the DeWitt Central FFA Chapter in Iowa went out into the community to undertake various community service projects. Partnering with businesses in the area, chapter members worked with the businesses in the morning and had the opportunity to “kick back” in the afternoon by going bowling at DeWitt Lanes.

Living to Serve

Dressed in bright pink T-shirts, chapter members split into groups and headed to their various job sites to start the morning. Projects ranged from landscaping to painting, stocking shelves and assisting businesses with various tasks. DeWitt Central FFA Chapter President Hannah Grantz helped at The Energy Shack in DeWitt by helping put stickers on cups before going to Lincoln Park to help landscape.

It is important to show support for our community because they give so much to us,” says Grantz. “It was also a great event to get the younger members involved in.”

DeWitt Central FFA Chapter Vice President Taylor Houser worked at First Central State Bank in DeWitt. Her group mulched and pulled weeds in the landscaping around the bank while also cleaning off the curbs to prepare them for painting.

The purpose of Give Back Kick Back is to recognize the importance of giving back to others,” says Houser. “Give Back Kick Back also teaches the value of hard work and the rewards you receive from it, which is a good lesson for all students.”

Chapter members definitely worked hard, as they managed to complete 12 projects throughout the course of the day.

Kick Back and Relax

Following their community service, chapter members enjoyed pizza and cookie cake while spending time with each other. Overall, DeWitt Central FFA members had a great experience, and the chapter is thankful for all the businesses who allowed them to serve and use their facilities.
