Now entering its fifth year, the Weaver FFA Chapter  has established itself as a vibrant force of leadership, collaboration and agricultural excellence in the Alabama FFA Association.
As we celebrate its journey so far, this chapter not only carries the banner of success but also exemplifies the dedication and enthusiasm that drive its growing legacy.

The Beginning of a Legacy

In 2021, first-year agriscience teacher Coleman Lett took a leap of faith in developing a brand new FFA chapter in Weaver, Ala., which is located in Calhoun County. For years, students, teachers and administrators had been told an agricultural department “would not work at Weaver High School (WHS).” Despite these words, when a position finally opened up, Lett took on the challenge, eager to see what would come out of it.

“Several kids jumped on board,” says Lett. “The kids at WHS are so competitive, it was almost like they had a point to prove.”

Many members decided to take the chance, including Dylan Brown. “Change was nice,” he says. “Our school was under construction for five years, so it was like a breath of fresh air.

Lett took 13 members to the first district competition, and the chapter came home with three banners. These Weaver FFA members helped pave the way for all members, even today.

Banners Upon Banners

In 2025, Weaver FFA is now excelling. For the past three years, it has received the most banners of any chapter at the district competition. It also brought the most members to compete at state competition and has become a well-known name in the Alabama FFA Association.

“The students just have this drive, and they want to be the best in every aspect,” Lett says. “Weaver is a small school, so all the students are involved in sports, clubs and more. They care about everything they’re involved in.”

Weaver FFA is dedicated to being better and hopes to continue its winning legacy for years to come.
