The Grassland FFA Chapter in New Holland, Pa., has a unique way of bringing FFA chapters in Lancaster County together. It’s “Cow Karaoke Night” event started as a tradition within this one chapter, then opened up to the rest of the county and has since gained quite a crowd due to its popularity.
The chapter borrows a calf for the event, which is held at the high school. An alum generously donates the calf from Warwick Manor Farms. During the event, members sing karaoke, enjoy various snacks and drinks, and visit a petting zoo.
Grassland FFA holds this event during National FFA Week and is an example of the various events chapters host throughout the week to celebrate. For example, Pine Grove FFA has fun dress-up days, while ELCO FFA has a toy tractor show with a teacher appreciation breakfast. During 2025 National FFA Week, the Pennsylvania FFA state officers welcomed 2024-25 National FFA Southern Region Vice President Jack Lingenfelter, who helped lead chapter visits.
This is just one way a chapter opens its doors — in an “udderly awesome” way — to those around them.
