As the holiday season approaches, many people travel home and enjoy breaks with their families. But sometimes, we forget to celebrate with everyone we hold dear: our friends.
Simon Kenton FFA and Scott FFA, two chapters in northern Kentucky, host an event to bring their members closer together to celebrate the holidays. Since these chapters share the same stomping grounds, they often collaborate on many events. For example, they took the trip to national convention together, which included sharing a charter bus, going on tours and booking rooms together.

Joint Opening Ceremonies are presented by officers of the two chapters.
The biggest collaborative event they have together is Friendsgiving, which is hosted at Honey Locust Farm in Morning View, Ky. The membership from both chapters get together to share food, play games, sing, dance and enjoy each other’s company. It is a big bonding event between the two chapters, and one the most looked forward to events all year. Friendsgiving is a blast for everyone who goes, including the Kenton County FFA Alumni, who are invited to this event as well.
“My favorite part about Friendsgiving is getting to know the other chapter in our county better and getting to network with a lot of people that we’ve never met before,” says Simon Kenton FFA President Anna Beth McCarty. Many others share her sentiments, and also include dancing and eating food as some of their favorite things that happen at Friendsgiving.

As we travel home to enjoy the holidays with our families, we should take a moment to slow down and share the joy and spirit of the season with all those around us. Your friends are your handpicked community, and celebrating the holidays with them holds the same level of importance as celebrating with your family.
