The Three Rivers Federation hosted its annual Federation Leadership Conference, bringing together young leaders at the North Carolina FFA Center for a day of hands-on workshops, teamwork and experience sharing.

Federation officers ran four workshops on practical leadership topics that included communication, organizing events, planning projects and mentoring others. Three state officers also led a session about statewide programs and chances for student leaders to get involved. The mix of workshops gave attendees useful tips they can take back to their chapters.

“Attending the Fourth Annual Three Rivers Federation Leadership Conference was an incredible experience,” says North Carolina FFA Vice President Josiah Saravia. “The sense of community these students have cultivated was heartwarming to see, and I truly feel that every student who left the North Carolina FFA Center that day gained a meaningful takeaway on what it means to fuel the future of agriculture!”

Members connected during lunch, swapping ideas and plans for putting what they’d learned into action. After the state officers’ session, each small group picked one student to share a key takeaway from their most recent workshop. Those experiences showed how the conference helped students grow and think about next steps.

Federation officers said the conference strengthened relationships between chapters and gave students tools and confidence to lead in their chapters. “This Federation Leadership Conference has been one of the best leadership conferences for me because it had taught me how to be a better leader and give better workshops,” says Three Rivers Federation President Ethan Hammond.

The attendees left the conference impacted and eager to implement the new ideas and strategies into practice as they continue their journeys as FFA members. Many said they felt better prepared to lead projects, support their chapters and build stronger connections within the federation, and several planned to share what they’d learned with members back home to expand the conference’s reach.
