When I was asked to choose an FFA Alumni who truly embodies the FFA motto — “Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve” — I immediately thought of Taylor McGill. McGill continues to inspire others long after her time in the blue jacket.

McGill’s life is a living example of what “Living to Serve” means. This past year, she took on an incredible project that showcased her leadership, compassion, and dedication to making a difference. She created and promoted a campaign for Chilly Cowboy, a fundraiser led by Oklahoma State University (OSU) to benefit the Special Olympics of Oklahoma. Through her efforts, McGill helped raise over $30,000 to support teams across the state — a huge impact that goes far beyond just numbers.

What’s most inspiring is the heart behind her work. McGill spent time with OSU Unified athletes, the university’s Special Olympics team, and saw firsthand the joy, determination, and kindness these athletes bring. She’s shared how their energy and love for others reminded her of the importance of serving selflessly — a lesson that perfectly captures the spirit of FFA.

McGill’s story proves that FFA doesn’t end when you graduate — the lessons of service, leadership, and community continue to shape who you are. Watching her turn those values into action makes me proud not only to call her an alumnus but also to know that she’s carrying forward the legacy of FFA in everything she does.

McGill truly lives to serve — and she’s an example every FFA member can look up to.
