This fall, the Sapulpa FFA officer team sat down to set goals for the 2025-26 school year. At the top of its list was having students complete the Making Things Better Program. This program, which was started and sponsored by Wes and Lou Watkins, challenges FFA members to complete five community service projects between August and March. Members who successfully complete this program are recognized at the Oklahoma State FFA Convention in May. Sapulpa FFA strives to make a lasting impact in its community by completing as many community service projects as possible.

Sapulpa FFA hosted the first community service project of the year by building, assembling and donating 20 Thanksgiving meal boxes. The boxes went to families who may not otherwise get a Thanksgiving dinner and included turkeys, various sides and a pumpkin pie kit. Sapulpa FFA partnered with the Chieftain Cares Program to bring the vision of this project to life. Chieftain Cares is a local organization run by Sapulpa Public Schools that serves as a food bank and clothes closet to students and families who need help.

The first step in accomplishing the goal was hosting a food drive for students. Members were tasked with bringing lists of food items and competed between agricultural education classes. Students then decorated the boxes, created a coloring and activity book for children and included encouraging notes for the holiday season. At the November chapter meeting, 40 members stepped up to help build the boxes.

Sapulpa FFA is incredibly proud of its selfless members who helped families this holiday season.
