The 90th Puerto Rico FFA State Convention.

Each state has something unique in its respective FFA association. For example, New Jersey began posting on Instagram in both English and Spanish. Oklahoma holds an occupational development competition about auctioneering. How amazing!

In Puerto Rico, we have had something unique since 1938: the FFA Anthem. This was written by agronomist and teacher Miguel A. Maymón while serving as an instructor for the Minillas FFA Chapter in San Germán, Puerto Rico. Every year and at every official event — including initiations, regional and state conventions — all FFA members, standing and in unison, sing our FFA anthem after the national anthems of Puerto Rico and the United States. Members sing this with great joy and as a sign of respect and a symbol of pride.

Below is the translation of the anthem in English:

Puerto Rico, homeland of my love,

It is my only ideal to give you glory and honor.

In your fertile tropical soil lies my future,

lies my freedom.

We are the Puerto Rican Future Farmers

who, to the rhythm of study, move forward

in pursuit of a divine ideal.

Let us sing, for the rising sun

with its brilliance will illuminate

the hard work of the Future Farmers,

the victors of posterity.
