For one FFA advisor, “Living to Serve” isn’t just a motto — it’s how she lives as a mom, wife, farmer, business owner and town official. I’m so lucky to call her my mom.
Brittany Hemond works hard and gives so much to others. She runs Hemond’s MX & Offroad Park, a large motocross track in New England. She’s a wife, a mom of two, a farmer and the president of the Maine Pork Producers Association. She’s also a select person for our small town, where she helps keep our community special.

I’m thankful she became my FFA advisor, even though she didn’t plan to.
When I was in eighth grade, I joined the Poland FFA Chapter. My science teacher was supposed to be the advisor, but he couldn’t make important events. So, we talked to the state FFA staff about my mom being an advisor, and they said yes.

Without her help, I don’t know where we’d be now. She leads, cheers us on and believes in FFA, which has helped our chapter do well.
My mother is also great at farming. She runs a pig operation on our farm and has a couple of hundred piglets a year. From raising animals to teaching kids, she loves agriculture, and it shows in everything she does.

Hemond really does live to serve. It’s not just what she does, but how she acts and what she believes in. She shows us what it means to lead, work hard and have faith in agriculture.
