FFA is an organization that provides members from all over with premier leadership and personal growth. In the U.S., there are over one million active FFA members that compete in competitions, serve their communities and produce agricultural products for their towns. These members are considered to be the future generations of agriculturists of America. Out of these one million members, there are quite a few who participate in serving their communities.
In the FFA motto, the final line is “Living to Serve.” This line shows that, as members, we are here to help and serve our time to others. This could be by helping a garden club have a sale, or helping a city clean up the sidewalks.
In Taylor County, Fla., a small FFA chapter has chosen to help out its local animal advocacy group and local vet’s office with a free vaccine clinic. This event took place on Jan. 17, 2026. Two very dedicated Taylor County FFA members woke up and made their way on a free Saturday to their town hall to show their dedication to living to serve.
Attending this event showed this chapter that its members are dedicated to helping their community and feel obligated to serve. Jaycee Flowers and Aubrey Howell volunteered and performed tasks, such as doing paperwork, organizing waiting lists and petting some pretty cute pets. Not only did they do those important tasks, but they also got to watch and learn alongside their local vet, Dr. Will Sapp. Dr. Sapp showed the members how to give shots, clip nails and nurture animals in the best possible way.
“Getting to see how I can impact my community in a positive way makes me feel warm inside,” Flowers says.
According to Howell, “Helping Dr. Sapp made me realize how strong my community is and how we can always come together for a good cause.”
During their time, Flowers and Howell also got to see some pets that are up for adoption. They mentioned these at their chapter meeting that month so members could share the pets and their stories on their chapter’s Facebook page.
These two young ladies are living by the motto and showing what it means to be a helpful member of your community.
