National FFA Week Fun: Bay Port FFA Trivia Night

The goal of Bay Port FFA Chapter’s FFA Trivia Night is an event that is both educational and fun.
Celebrating the Impact of National FFA Week
National FFA Week is an important time dedicated to recognizing the impact FFA has on students throughout the country. Since FFA was founded in 1928, it has helped and continues to help members develop leadership skills, become more career-ready, and discover a true passion for agriculture. During this week, many chapters host fun and educational events to involve members. Assemblies, dress-up days and small celebrations are common ways chapters celebrate. But what if you wanted to take National FFA Week to the next level? FFA Trivia Night might be the perfect solution.
FFA Trivia Night is an event that Bay Port FFA holds after school during FFA Week. The evening begins with dinner and is followed by a trivia competition to close out the night.
Lauren Weed’s FFA Journey
Lauren Weed, a senior at Bay Port High School, currently serves as the chapter president. She previously served as treasurer during both her sophomore and junior year. Weed’s FFA journey is inspired by her father and Bay Port FFA advisor Ryan Weed. Ever since she was young, Lauren looked up to her dad and couldn’t wait to begin her own FFA journey. Today, she makes an impact in many ways within the chapter and serves as the main coordinator for FFA Trivia Night.
How FFA Trivia Night Became a Bay Port Tradition
In addition to hosting dress-up days, laser tag, Day on the Hill, and other activities during FFA Week, Bay Port FFA continues to host FFA Trivia Night as one of their signature events. Weed explained that the idea originally started during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, the chapter was looking for a creative way to connect with members. At the same time, they faced the challenge of being unable to gather in-person. The first version of the event was held online, allowing students to participate in trivia without the ability to meet. As time went on, and in-person events became possible again, the chapter shifted the idea into a large, in-person gathering.
A Fun and Educational Competition
The goal of Trivia Night has always been to create an event that is both educational and fun. The trivia questions cover a variety of topics, including agriculture, FFA knowledge, and general trivia, giving everyone a chance to participate and contribute to their team. According to Weed, the friendly competition helps bring people together. It also keeps the event lighthearted and enjoyable.
“Everybody loves a little friendly competition, and something like this where it’s not super serious — we just thought it was a super easy way to engage people and connect over a fun activity,” Weed described.
A Night of Connection
This year, FFA Trivia Night was able to bring together around 75 students representing 11 different chapters. The event provides an opportunity for members to meet new people, test their knowledge, and celebrate the passion they share for agriculture and FFA. For many students, the evening was not only entertaining but also a chance to strengthen connections within the FFA community.
From Simple Idea to Lasting Tradition
Events like FFA Trivia Night show how creative ideas can make FFA Week even more meaningful by bringing chapters together for an evening of learning, laughter and friendly competition, Bay Port FFA continues to find new ways to celebrate the organization and inspire its members. As FFA chapters across the country look for ways to engage their members during National FFA Week, events like Trivia Night demonstrate how a simple idea can grow into a memorable tradition.
