FFA Impacts Members and Their Everyday Lives

Balancing career and leadership development events, Supervised Agricultural Experiences, work, school and home life are a few things FFA members may be required to do. Many members of this organization balance all of these things and more. Just competing in competitions can be stressful, but members take it to the next level by doing multiple things, including sports and jobs. FFA members may have all these things to do, but it never fails that they do them all to the best of their ability.
FFA members shine not only while wearing the blue jacket, but they also shine when they don’t. Many members use their blue jackets to guide them through things like jobs and, sometimes, sports. When applying for a job, members should always include that they are an FFA member, highlighting their work ethic and determination to do what they do. Including your participation in FFA on your resume will significantly increase your chances of getting that particular job.
As a member of my small chapter in the Big Bend of Florida, I demonstrate the balance between FFA and other commitments. As the Taylor County High School FFA president, I remain involved in my chapter and other activities. Alongside FFA, I participate in Little Women, National Honor Society, Tumble Team (similar to competitive cheerleading) and golf. In addition to my extracurriculars, I work at a local real estate office and take classes at my local college.

When I talk about FFA, I like to mention how it has helped me succeed in all of my other activities. Being in FFA not only gave me the opportunity to participate in these other activities, but it also helped me succeed. I learned so many things, including effective public speaking, strong leadership skills, and how to be a team player. Also, learning how to balance all of these has made me have great time management skills. Things like time management are essential as you grow up and become an adult.
FFA leadership opportunities, such as Chapter Presidents Conference and Chapter Officer Leadership Training, have led me to success because of the skills they taught me. One example is how to write a resume, which I learned at an FFA conference. Learning how to write a resume led me to an amazing job that I thanfully have while still in high school.

FFA promotes the growth and success of students everywhere and will continue to do so as long as it remains and is supported. Students use FFA as a way into so many opportunities, and without it, some students would be lost. FFA changes how students perceive themselves, making them 100 times more confident and professional.
