For 35 years, the Webster County Youth Ag Safety Day has been an outstanding tradition for fourth-grade students across the county in Kentucky. The day is built around teaching future generations about agriculture and the importance of safety. This year, with help from the Webster County FFA Chapter and other local organizations and businesses, the Webster County Cooperative Extension Service hosted another successful Ag Safety Day, like the many before.

The focus is simple: provide students with knowledge, help them understand agriculture and safety practices, and form a lasting impact that will stay with them for years to come. Students rotated through countless stations, each focusing on a key area of agriculture, including tractor and equipment awareness, ATV and lawn mower safety, and grain bin safety.

Not only do the lessons stand out, but the people leading each station stand out as well. Webster County FFA members led the majority of these groups. Members showcased a variety of agricultural aspects while helping the children understand what to do in agricultural situations and even why those things matter.

“I remember this event from when I was in fourth grade, and I remember the members from the past leading those groups,” one member stated. Another member detailed, “The part I love about the FFA is that we give back to the community that created us.”

The Webster County Youth Ag Safety Day has influenced the lives of many throughout the years. In countless situations, Webster County FFA members have realized that the day is not only about safety but also about service. The chapter continues to serve, and in serving, they have proved that real leadership means showing up for the future of our world and organization.
