INDIANAPOLIS (Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016/National FFA Organization) – Elin Miller of Umpqua, Ore., has been awarded the VIP Citation by the National FFA Organization, recognizing her significant contributions to FFA and agricultural education.
Miller served as a National FFA Officer from 1979 to 1980, but her love for FFA continues as she has served in a number of volunteer capacities for the National FFA Foundation. She served as chair for the National FFA Foundation Individual Giving Council and then served as chair for the board of trustees. She has worked to raise awareness as well as funds for FFA and also signed an endowment that provided scholarships to a student at the University of Arizona and a student at Oregon State University. In addition, the gift will also fund scholarships for two national officers.
"The VIP Citation recognizes the dedicated individuals who contribute to the FFA mission of student success through their hard work and cooperation," the organization's CEO, Mark Poeschl, said. "Without such strong and outstanding commitment, FFA would not be able to help build strong character in its members, who in turn build strong families, communities and businesses."
The National FFA Organization provides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education to 629,367 student members who belong to one of 7,757 local FFA chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
