INDIANAPOLIS (Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016/National FFA Organization) –Cory Reed, senior vice president of the Solutions Group at John Deere, has been awarded the VIP Citation by the National FFA Organization, recognizing his significant contributions to FFA and agricultural education.
Reed will be completing his fifth year of service on the National FFA Foundation Sponsors' Board at the 89th National FFA Convention & Expo and is serving as the past chair. In 2015 he served as the sponsors' board chair and also served on the National FFA Foundation Board of Trustees in 2014 and 2015. During his time on the boards, he has been active and engaged with FFA and agricultural education. He has been instrumental in growing support for FFA and played a key role in developing the John Deere Dealer Scholarship program. While he was chair, John Deere made a five-year commitment to provide $1 million per year from 2016-20 to FFA. He has also worked to build broader and deeper support and engagement by bringing key company leaders to the national convention and expo and by supporting the creation of a John Deere FFA Alumni Affiliate, which has become a model for other companies.
"The VIP Citation recognizes the dedicated individuals who contribute to the FFA mission of student success through their hard work and cooperation," the organization's CEO, Mark Poeschl, said. "Without such strong and outstanding commitment, FFA would not be able to help build strong character in its members, who in turn build strong families, communities and businesses."
The National FFA Organization provides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education to 629,367 student members who belong to one of 7,757 local FFA chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
