INDIANAPOLIS (Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016/National FFA Organization) – Eldon "Bud" Aupperle of Toulon, Ill., has been awarded the VIP Citation by the National FFA Organization, recognizing his significant contributions to FFA and agricultural education.

Aupperle has worked in the FFA Alumni booth at the National FFA Convention & Expo for the past seven years, working tirelessly to share the FFA Alumni story with adults and members. Over the years, he has served in many capacities relating to education and agriculture. He even initiated new agricultural programs at Warren School in Monmouth, Ill., and Black Hawk College in Moline, Ill., that received national attention. In addition, he was involved in the formation of the National Postsecondary Agricultural Student Organization and served as the executive secretary for the agribusiness club for 37 years. He has served as a judge for FFA activities at all levels, volunteering at the national convention and expo for 45 years.

"The VIP Citation recognizes the dedicated individuals who contribute to the FFA mission of student success through their hard work and cooperation," the organization's CEO, Mark Poeschl, said. "Without such strong and outstanding commitment, FFA would not be able to help build strong character in its members, who in turn build strong families, communities and businesses."

The National FFA Organization provides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education to 629,367 student members who belong to one of 7,757 local FFA chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
