INDIANAPOLIS (Friday, Aug. 23, 2013 /National FFA Organization) – John Deere will be honored on stage with Distinguished Service Citation today at the 2013 National FFA Convention & Expo held in Louisville, Ky.
John Deere, supporting youth leadership and educational excellence for the past 70 years, is the longest-running sponsor of the National FFA Organization. The company’s support of core programs and scholarships has affected a wide range of audiences. Recently, the company also increased its new dealer scholarship program which resulted in more scholarships being offered to FFA members.
Beyond financial support, John Deere is working to connect more employees with FFA, utilizing company visits with the National FFA officers as an opportunity for employees to learn more about FFA and the company’s relationship.
John Deere has consistently had representation on the National FFA Foundation’s Sponsors’ Board and this year became a first-time platinum sponsor. John Deere and FFA continue to work together to build and enhance their relationship and how they can reach shared goals and objectives collaboratively.
The company was nominated by Ryan Tate, strategic accounts director at the National FFA Foundation. Cory Reed, senior vice president of global marketing services in the agriculture and turf division at John Deere, will represent the company in an on-stage ceremony at convention to accept the recognition on Nov. 1 during the fourth general session.
Awards such as the Distinguished Service Citation recognize that FFA makes a greater impression on students through the cooperation of the entire community. FFA and agricultural education programs have helped millions of students achieve extraordinary success for 86 years.
The National FFA Organization provides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education to 557,318 student members in grades seven through 12 who belong to one of 7,498 local FFA chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
