National Outstanding Achievement Award

Outstanding Achievement Awards are given in recognition of FFA Alumni members for outstanding leadership and service to agricultural education, FFA and FFA Alumni.

Outstanding Achievement Award – To recognize individual FFA Alumni members for their outstanding leadership and service to ag education, FFA and FFA Alumni.

Eligibility of FFA Alumni Members:

  • State FFA Alumni leaders are encouraged to seek submissions from within their state for individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service and have advocated on behalf of agriculture, agricultural education, FFA and FFA Alumni.
  • All FFA Alumni members are eligible to nominate and be nominated. State FFA Alumni associations must approve the nominations submitted to national. This award will be awarded annually at the National FFA Alumni Convention to as many as three individuals.

Recognition:

  • Outstanding Achievement Award Recipients will receive
    • $500 to be presented in their name to a local FFA chapter, FFA Alumni affiliate, state FFA foundation or State FFA Alumni of their choice.
    • A plaque

CHANGES:

  • Added advocacy efforts to the application form.
  • Increase the recognition and value to awardees.

National Outstanding Affiliate Awards

The Outstanding Affiliate Awards honor FFA Alumni Affiliates for outstanding accomplishments and serve to encourage other affiliates to further their own achievements.

Outstanding Affiliate Award – To acknowledge a local FFA Alumni affiliate’s outstanding accomplishments and to encourage other affiliates to be more effective.

Eligibility of Local FFA Alumni Affiliates:

  • Winning affiliate would not be eligible the following year

Recognition:

  • One affiliate per region will be selected as a finalist to compete for the National Outstanding Affiliate Award.
  • The affiliate selected as the National Outstanding Affiliate will receive one full registration scholarship to the FFA Alumni Development Conference the following summer.

CHANGES:

  • Eliminated the Pioneer Affiliate award separating affiliates less than 5 years in existence from competition with other affiliates.
  • Adjusted the application to consider percentage of FFA and FFA Alumni membership participating in events and activities versus actual counts.
  • Added a section focused on advocacy work being done by the affiliate.
  • Instead of requiring the affiliate to submit additional documentation for each of the seven activity/event sections, they may select four different section from which to feature an activity/event.
  • Adjusted the recognition to be more prestigious and valuable for the one affiliate selected from across the nation.
  • Rearranged recognition from gold, silver & bronze ratings to a regional winner and one overall winner from among the regional winners.

National FFA Alumni Website Contest

All nationally chartered, active local affiliates or state alumni associations are eligible to enter their websites in the national contest.

Outstanding Website Award – To recognize state and local FFA Alumni affiliates using a website to inform, educate and advocate.

Eligibility of Local & State FFA Alumni Affiliates:

  • Local and state FFA Alumni affiliates with a website

Recognition:

  • One affiliate or state per region will be selected as a finalist to compete for the Outstanding Website Award.
  • The Outstanding website winner will receive:
    • $100
    • A special, year specific, medallion graphic to post on their website indicating their accomplishment
    • A feature in at least one of National FFA Alumni’s communication portals (website, newsletter, blog, social media) to draw attention to this resource and provide examples to others.

CHANGES:

  • State and local website will be judged together versus in separate categories
  • Addition of medallion graphic for recognition
  • Addition of advocacy specific information on the application

National FFA Alumni Newsletter Contest

All nationally chartered, active local affiliates or state alumni associations are eligible to enter their newsletters in the national contest.

Outstanding Newsletter Award – to recognize state and local FFA Alumni affiliates that use a newsletter to inform, educate and advocate.

Eligibility of Local & State FFA Alumni Affiliates:

  • Local and state FFA Alumni affiliates with a print or electronic newsletter

Recognition:

  • One affiliate or state per region will be selected as a finalist to compete for the Outstanding Newsletter Award in the categories of print and electronic.
  • These two winners will receive:
    • $100
    • A special, year specific, medallion graphic to be included in their newsletter indicating their accomplishment
    • A feature in at least one of National FFA Alumni’s communication portals (website, newsletter, blog, social media) to draw attention to this resource and provide examples to others.

CHANGES:

  • State and local newsletters will be judged together versus in separate categories
  • Addition of medallion graphic for recognition
  • Addition of advocacy specific information on the application
  • Affiliates that distribute newsletter in print & electronic must identify the first method of delivery for competition.

​​Updated Awards

Blue Blazer Award – To acknowledge state FFA Alumni associations making significant progress in growing the Association each year.

Eligibility of State FFA Alumni Associations:

  • States with less than 1,000 members in the previous year whose membership increases by 75 or more members from the previous year.
  • States with 1,000 plus members in the previous year whose membership increases by 150 or more members from the previous year.

Recognition:

  • All states reaching eligibility will be recognized annually at the National FFA Alumni Convention and receive the following:
    • 1 Blue Blazer (May be awarded to the state president or other designated officer)
    • One $200 FFA Alumni Development Conference scholarship for the following summer to assist a representative from the state to attend

CHANGES:

  • Formerly called the Star Awards. Now simply called the Blue Blazer Award.- Divided states based on membership size vs. comparing everyone together.
  • Eliminated tiered awards: 1 star, 2 stars, 3 stars.
  • Increased the value to those states reaching this level.

State with the most members, Affiliate with the most members, 100% State FFA Officer as Life Members – to recognize state and local FFA Alumni affiliates for achievements in membership.

Eligibility:

  • These awards of membership achievement will not require an application, with the exception of notification by submitting state of 100% State FFA Officers as Life Members.

Recognition:

  • These achievements will be acknowledged in the National FFA Alumni Convention program and on the website.

CHANGES:

  • Recognition will be given in print. Plaques and on-stage recognition will be discontinued.
